Easy sweet potato recipes to enjoy in the fall

The fall season brings us very rich seasonal foods that offer many alternatives to prepare healthy dishes. One of our favorites is the sweet potato: this tuber is ideal to use in sweet and savory recipes. The roasted sweet potato is a common dish in Spanish homes. In this post, we propose some easy and very original recipes to prepare the sweet potato.
Sweet potato cream with crunchy ham
First, we are going to roast the sweet potato, peel it and mash it. We will mix it with a little homemade ham broth and add salt, pepper and olive oil to taste while we emulsify the mixture with the mixer until we obtain a fine and homogeneous cream.
For the crispy ham, you can toast a few cubes of it in a pan with a few drops of oil. If you add some crumbs of cracker, you will get an even crunchier sensation that you can add to the end of the plate. This dish is served hot or warm.
Sweet potato fries
Indeed, we are going to cook the sweet potato as we do with traditional potatoes. This dish will serve as a garnish for any meat or fish, giving our dishes a unique touch! For this, it is essential to cut the sweet potatoes well and find the perfect frying point to make them crisp. If you prefer to do without the oil, you can also cook them in the oven and you will get a similar and less caloric result.
Sweet potato jam
Of course, a sweet recipe could not be missing. It is a sweet preserve ideal to use in cakes, sponge cakes or even with yogurt. To start, you can cook or bake the sweet potato according to your preference. Once ready, its pulp is peeled and crushed. Add the sweet potato to a container with lemon peel, sugar and a cinnamon stick. The mixture is cooked over medium heat for 30 minutes and a little water is added if necessary. Then we let it cool down and remove the lemon peel and cinnamon.
